The First 60 Seconds: Homepage Video

By Muhammad Danyal

Structuring a homepage video to drive conversions in the first 60 seconds.

A homepage video is prime real estate. It is often the first thing a visitor engages with, and it has seconds to do its job. Here is how to make those seconds count.

Lead with the problem, not your logo

The fastest way to lose a viewer is a slow, branded intro. Open with the problem your customer feels. When they think “that’s me,” you have earned their attention.

Make the value obvious fast

Within the first 10 to 15 seconds, the viewer should understand what you do and why it matters. Do not save the point for the end. Most people will not get there.

Show the product in motion

Do not just describe the product, show it working. Seeing a clean, animated version of the product in action builds belief in a way words cannot.

End with one clear action

Close with a single, obvious next step. One call to action, not three. Confused viewers do not convert.

Keep it short

For a homepage, aim for 60 to 90 seconds. Long enough to make the case, short enough to actually get watched.
